Downtown Houston Greenlink

Getting around Downtown just got easier!

By Harlisha Homer June 21, 2012
As of June 11, 2012, getting around Downtown Houston got a little easier. The Greenlink is a shuttle that provides easy transportation to popular downtown Houston locations - for FREE. So, let's say you're at the George R. Brown Convention Center, and you want to get to the Central Library. Instead of moving your car and dealing with finding another parking spot at the library, you can catch the Greenlink for free.

Seven buses operate Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.. Buses run roughly 7-10 minutes apart during peak hours. The route spans 2.5 miles with 18 stops. Popular downtown attractions along the route include the George R. Brown Convention Center, Main Street Square, Discovery Green, Macy’s, Houston Pavilions, City Hall and the Central Library (street map below).

The Greenlink buses run on Compressed Natural Gas, which is a cleaner fuel alternative. The buses are operated by METRO, in partnership with the Downtown District.
