THIS WEEKEND: Trick or Treat in Nature’s Neighborhood October 19th

Houston Arboretum & Nature Center Hosts Annual Family-friendly ArBOOretum Fall Festival

September 14, 2019

Grab the costumes, and round up the kids for the Houston Arboretum’s biggest family event of the year, ArBOOretum, featuring fun activities for all ages. These include live animals, pumpkin decorating and Houston’s only Trick-or-Treat Nature Trail. Little ghouls and goblins should plan to be at the Arboretum for this Family Fall Festival on Saturday, Oct. 19 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. to play, learn and enjoy an engaging day of activities.
At ArBOOretum, the Trick-or-Treat Nature Trail will lead kids on an adventure of discovery where they will learn about creatures that live at the Arboretum, while collecting candy along the way. Other favorite ArBOOretum activities throughout the day include:

  • Train Rides
  • Live Reptiles
  • Pumpkin Decorating
  • Petting Zoo & Pony Rides
  • Face Painting

Some “Spooktacular” new additions to ArBOOretum this year are:

  • Halloween Market – featuring activities and wares from local vendors
  • Pumpkin Patch - $5 pumpkins; unlimited photo opportunities
  • Spooky Science Show – Halloween-themed science experiments
  • Blood Drive – free entry for all donors ages 16 and up. Click here to sign up.

Food trucks will also be on hand to keep guests well-fed and hydrated. Look for Offbeat Eats, Eaker BBQ, El Guajillo, Moooseum and more.

“ArBOOretum is always a favorite with Arboretum fans,” says Debbie Markey, executive director. “The Arboretum grounds look very different this year, with changes and amenities that are a part of our Master Plan, including the new Ravine Trail.”

“Of course, guests will enjoy all the traditional Halloween and fall festival fun, along with some new events and food trucks,” Markey continues. “We also encourage people to become ArBOOretum sponsors to help support our mission of conservation and education.”
