I was thrilled to learn that such an anticipated, fun and meaningful event like this, was making its first stop in Houston. I just had to take my son and we were fortunate enough to attend a sneak peek the day before its opening on March 22nd. Despite my son only staying attentive with me through 6 of the zones (he's 4 years old), he sure interacted and took in the sights and sounds. It’s a modern day display of discovery and impact. We got to see some of the young beautiful faces and stories benefitting from UNICEF’s tireless work around the world. And I can totally see why they call this exhibit Heart Strings because it really pulls at ours.
Throughout the experience, you hear heartbeats, voices and beautiful peaceful sounds tying it all in; you get to see it, feel it, hear it and touch it. It’s a family and human experience you should not miss. And bonus, we grabbed lunch downstairs in the huge food court (not included) and the little one was happy about that!
UNICEF’s foundation was and is to serve children around the world in more than 190 countries and territories to pursue a more equitable world for every child. For almost 80 years now, they have been dedicated to ensuring and will not stop until every child is healthy, educated, protected and respected.
“At the heart of UNICEF USA is our commitment to every child, and we are excited to introduce, ‘Heart Strings’ to the American public where visitors can learn about the lives of children around the world and witness the impact of UNICEF’s relentless work,” said Michael J. Nyenhuis, President and CEO of UNICEF USA. “Our wish is for attendees to leave this emotional and educational journey with a sense of optimism in this world and are compelled to support UNICEF’s global mission right here in their own communities.”
Enter this original interactive, multi-sensory experience Heart Strings. A family-focused experience-for-good. We have the opportunity to be a part of something we can all feel and understand, it’s unifying. Each step you take through this experience is a window into another sense and each element shines a light on the world’s children, and transcends borders, cultures and languages to create a deeply moving and engaging experience.
Attendees will explore through eight zones with an opportunity to power a universal song by sharing their pulse to the rhythm, their voice to the chorus by helping compose its lyrics, and more. It wraps up with attendees adding to the wall of filling in this blank: “I want to tell the world…” Lastly, in lieu of a traditional gift shop, there’s an opportunity to contribute gifts via a “self-checkout” process of donating soccer balls, school supplies and more to kids in need via the UNICEF network. And bonus, Spanish translations are available by way of QR codes throughout!
