🌱 PICK-YOUR-OWN (PYO) FARMS WORTH THE DRIVE FROM HOUSTON
It's a hands-on adventure at this PYO farm near Houston, where you can enjoy the experience of picking your own fruits and vegetables straight from the fields. Here's a top pick of what's open now:
Froberg’s 3601 Hwy 6, Alvin, TX 77511, Daily 8am-6pm (excluding major holidays)
Since 2006, Froberg’s started the pick-your-own portion of their family business that has been around since. Having taken my 4yr old, Forberg’s was a crowd pleaser and it makes for a great family day. We picked some amazing strawberries and he was so hands on and involved. We were lucky to catch the extra weekend in which they had extended the strawberry picking, along with sunflowers and more. But what hit it out of the park after filling our bucket with fresh strawberries, were ALL of the activities they had to keep my son entertained. From a train-like ride around the grounds, to a bouncing area, to contests, tricycle riding, and so many more I can’t even list them all. Live music, good food trucks, and produce and fried pies along with other shopping. I will say coins are needed to partake in the activities, but if you’re lucky you’ll catch the owner walking around gifting bags of coins as it happened for us!
It’s about a 40min drive give or take from the city. Some items are cash only, otherwise, cards are accepted.
