The Mayor’s Office of Special Events presents its annual 4th of July festival, Freedom Over Texas, at Eleanor Tinsley Park.
Packed with six-hours of festivities, tradition, and live concert performances, Freedom Over Texas features local, regional, and national entertainment and finishes with a big Texas-sized fireworks finale, that starts at about 9:30pm.
The event has become Houston’s annual signature July 4th celebration with an average of 50,000 people in attendance and televised live in Houston.
Chart-topping and multi-platinum country-pop artist, Russell Dickerson, will headline the show. Country artists Jo Dee Messina and Chapel Hart will each have featured performances.
Other performance artists include local blues guitarist Mathias Lattin, Minneapolis’ Nunnabove, Latin fusion group Bamuaya, Houston’s own Brian Jack and The Zydeco Gamblers, and Houston-native Texas country performer Gary Kyle.

This year's festival promises to be a spectacular event with exciting activities, delicious food, and an unforgettable fireworks display. We are delighted to once again bring fireworks to conclude the celebration, thanks to the generous support of Patrick Pettit from Clubs of Kingwood. The fireworks will be launched from the original site at the bottom of the driving range, with shells soaring between 300 and 400 feet. Attendees can look forward to a fantastic view of the show from the Park. In addition to the fireworks at 9pm, the festival will feature a variety of entertaining activities.

The 2024 Fireworks Extravaganza will also feature a fireworks display in the Waterway Square District near Timberloch Place and Waterway Avenue and Rob Fleming Park in the Village of Creekside Park.
