I can’t tell you how much I love to attend events themed around culture. And to experience these types of events with my child, is quite literally the next best thing to traveling right now. And it's all right in our backyard! So here’s a top list of dozens of festivals in Houston celebrating culture this season, starting with all things Latino for Hispanic Heritage Month which runs from 9/15-10/15. All events listed are arranged in order by date.




DISCOVERY GREEN appears to have the most Latino themed events lined up for the next month, check 'em out!

Mexico en el Corazon

A magical night of ballet folklorico and Mariachis.


9/22 1-10pm

Festival de la Salsa

Get ready for a day full of rhythm and flavor at the Houston Salsa Fest. Dance to the best salsa music, enjoy delicious Latin food and immerse yourself in the vibrant Latin culture.

Bilingual Zumba

Learn Zumba in English and Spanish with Laly La Mega. This easy-to-follow cardio workout will have you dancing your way to a strong and healthy body.

Clase de Yoga Respiración Consciente y Meditación de Sonidos en Español 

Esta clase ofrece prácticas de Yoga, Respiración y Meditación de Sonidos a la comunidad latina e hispanohablante de Houston. Guiada por Natalia Uribe y Sebastián Romero seguida de un baño de sonido y meditación a cargo de Saumil Manek.

The Latin Side of Houston featuring The Houston Latin Jazz Orchestra 

The Houston Latin Jazz Orchestra led by Grammy-Nominated music director José Antonio Diaz, features some of Houston’s best Latin jazz artists. These world-class musicians represent the rich heritage of the Latin American countries and the fusion of these cultures with the Houston lifestyle.

Salsa y Salud

The 2024 installment of Salsa y Salud features an exciting new production of salsa arrangements of music from artists such as Beyoncé, Stevie Wonder, Bruno Mars, Lionel Richie and others. Be part of a fun and high energy evening celebrating some of today’s and legendary artists through the beat and rhythm of salsa!

45th Annual Chicano Fest

The “45th Annual Festival Chicano” is a reflection of the artistic creativity that has developed in the Chicano cultural experience after centuries of influence from native peoples, Mexico, Europeans, and the U.S.A..

Chicano music has been historically shaped by many diverse styles such as Mexican rancheras, corridos, mariachi, orchestra, tejano, conjunto, big band, rhythm and blues, country, rock and roll, and many others.

The festival is a celebration of culture through the musical expression of countless generations of artists. It is truly a unique, original American sound.

Party on the Plaza

Slavic Heritage Festival

Established in 1963 in honor of the 1100th anniversary of Sts. Cyril and Methodius, our festival is one of the longest running international festivals in the Greater Houston area.

Each year we come together to honor and celebrate our shared slavic heritage.

7th Annual Lebanese Festival

πŸ“ The Water Works at Buffalo Bayou Park

The 2024 American Lebanese Cultural Center event, aptly named "Uniting Community, Building Tomorrow," aims to bring together the Lebanese community in a vibrant and enjoyable setting while also introducing our rich cultural heritage to non-Lebanese attendees. Since 2015, we have held this annual event to foster connections within our community and to share our traditions with a broader audience.

This year has an entertainment lineup including Abbas Jaafar, Hanine Al Alam, Guy Manokian and George Nehme.

Indigenous Peoples’ Day

Enjoy a lunchtime performance in celebration of Indigenous Peoples’ Day. The event will open with a land acknowledgement presented by Abuela M’api Rainflowa, founder of Calmecac Indigenous Organization (CIO). After the presentation expect a performance by CIO traditional dancers and drummers.
